Midwest Camper Repair Co is a mobile RV and camper repair company. There is no shop you have to tow your rig to. We come to your site, your driveway, or wherever it is parked.

Hillsdale County is lake country, and the work follows the water.

Gateway Park Campground on West Hallett Road, sitting on South Sand Lake with ninety-nine full hookup sites.

Six Lakes Campground on Hudson Road, out on Boot Lake, in the middle of the chain that runs through Boot, Cain, Bass, First, Second, and Baw Beese.

Baw Beese Lake right outside town, plus the seasonal sites and private lots scattered around Sugar Bush, Marble Springs, and the smaller lakes.

The Hillsdale County Fairgrounds on South Broad Street. The fair has been running since 1851 and lands in late September, and the grounds rent RV storage through the winter from October into March.

We also cover Jonesville, Litchfield, Reading, Camden, Hudson, and North Adams, along with the US-12 corridor east toward the Irish Hills.

Hillsdale work is different from the rest of our territory, and the difference is time.

Down in Ohio, most of our calls are somebody's camper sitting at the house, used a few weekends a year. Around here a lot of rigs go to the same lake site in May and do not move again until October. Then they go into storage and sit until spring.

A camper that never moves develops a very specific set of problems.

Roofs are the big one. A rig parked under trees for five months collects sap, needles, and standing water in every low spot, and nobody is up there looking. Seals dry out and crack in place. By the time the water shows up inside as a soft spot in a corner or a stain along a ceiling seam, it has been getting in for two seasons.

Then there are the things that only break because they sat. Mice in the furnace and the wiring. Water heaters that were not drained. Slide seals that took a set and no longer close. Tires flat spotted and checked from months in one position. Batteries that went dead flat in January and will not take a charge in April.

None of that is dramatic and all of it is cheaper to catch in the fall than to discover in the spring.

If your rig lives at a lake site, the two calls worth making are one in the fall before it closes up and one in the spring before you trust it again.

Roofs and seals. Spot sealing, full resealing, and membrane replacement. We install TPO rather than EPDM because it holds up longer and does not chalk and flake. A full reseal runs four to eight hours of labor plus materials. If the membrane is torn rather than just worn, replacements can run between $6,000 to $10,000.

Slide-outs. Motors, tracks, alignment, and seals, plus the structural side. Rotted slide-out floors, soft subfloors, damaged framing, and failed slide-out roofs. That heavier work typically runs $2,500 to $5,500.

Appliances and electrical. Air conditioners, furnaces, water heaters, refrigerators, thermostats, and 12V and 120V systems.

Plumbing. Water pumps, PEX leaks, fixtures, toilet seals, and freeze damage.

Axles, bearings, and brakes. Bearing repack, brake inspection and adjustment, and preload set correctly. Every twelve months or twelve thousand miles.

Hitch and towing setup. Weight distribution and sway control, set up right. Tongue weight belongs between seven and ten percent of loaded weight.

Winterization and spring startup. Basic winterization is $129. Our comprehensive pre-winter inspection package is $299 and includes spot sealing along with the winterization, which is the one to get if the rig is going into storage for six months.

Inspections. Pre-purchase inspection is $249. If you are buying a used camper off a lake site or out of a storage lot, spend the $249 before you spend the rest.

We hear the same story often enough to know it is not rare. Somebody calls around about a soft floor or a slide that has dropped, and gets turned down three or four times before they find us.

There is a reason. Replacing a motor or a seal is parts work. Rebuilding a rotted slide-out floor means taking the room apart, replacing structure, and closing it back up watertight. It takes more time, different tools, and the willingness to open something up not knowing exactly what is under there.

We take those jobs. If your slide floor is gone, you are better off hearing it from someone who can actually rebuild it than from someone whose only answer is to trade the camper in.

We are not going to promise same-day service, because in season we cannot deliver it and telling you otherwise wastes your time.

What we will do is tell you honestly where you stand when you call. Sometimes we can work you in quickly. Often it is a few days out.

Two timing notes that matter more up here than they do south of the line. Michigan freezes earlier and harder, so if you want winterization done, call in September, not the week of the first hard frost. And if your rig is going into storage at the fairgrounds or anywhere else for the winter, get the roof looked at before it goes in, not after it comes out.
